Buddhist Unalome Pendant

Traditional Thai Buddhist amulet with a Unalome inscription on the reverse and on the front, a depiction of Buddha in Bhumisapara mudra indicating the moment of his enlightenment, when he calls the earth to witness his awakening. 

Mudra is the term used for a hand gesture, and each one has a unique meaning. A Unalome is a spiral marking which represents the path to enlightenment. Twists and turns depict the difficulties of life which end in a straight line to show enlightenment or peace and harmony. The final dot is for Nirvana, when soul is released into a state of utter bliss.
