Carnelian Bijou Pendant

The word bijou comes to us from France, where it means 'small and elegant' but the French originally borrowed it from an ancient Celtic word which meant jewel, or trinket.

As you can see, both definitions fit this tiny, sweet pendant to a tee, with it's perfectly round polished gemstone surrounded by a ring of 'rawa' dots.

Rawa is an age-old technique used by Indian silversmiths in which silver is heated to liquid form, and tiny drops of the metal are rolled to create little silver balls.  These are then hand-applied in patterns, often to form the setting of a precious stone.
