Pearl-Pure-Divine-Grace

The only gemstone to be created by a living animal, pearls form inside a mollusc’s shell when a tiny particle becomes lodged inside. The animal produces a substance called nacre to protect itself and layers of the substance cover the intrusion over time, forming an iridescent pearl. The name is derived from the Latin word for yellow, ‘citrina’ Like all other Quartz-based minerals, it’s the impurities that give rise to their colour, Citrine owes its beautiful honey tones to minute ferric or iron deposits.
