Boho Jewellery is a term we often hear applied to our collection at Inspired Tribe.
But what differentiates Boho jewellery from any other style of jewellery - for example tribal, ethnic or eclectic - and what makes it so special, anyway?
We thought long and hard about this and came up with a few defining qualities of Boho jewellery style, and a few reasons why we LOVE, and will always love this fabulous ethos no matter what it's applied to.
The word Boho is obviously short for the word Bohemian, which by definition literally means 'socially unconventional'.
In some areas of life it pays to be conventional (like in how you stack the dishwasher, for example) but when it comes to jewellery, we say why stick to the plain, the staid and the usual when you can own pieces which defy convention and are uniquely eye-catching?
Boho jewellery defies social and often stylistic conventions and is worn by those who love to stand out and who march to the beat of their own drum. It refuses to bow to the pressure of being conservative, and is often worn to accent a fabulously random and colourful outfit.
Boho jewellery is often old - even vintage or antique - and may be sourced from markets, op shops or while on travels overseas. The cost of it is irrelevant, as its value lies in how much the owner loves it and how fabulous the piece makes them feel when they have it on!
