Why is a Tennis Bracelet Called a Tennis Bracelet?
Last week's Fresh on Friday saw us launch our first ever collection of bracelets, including a fresh take on the classic Tennis Bracelet. But have you ever wondered where these bracelets got their name from?
Tennis bracelets are fine, glamorous bracelets that feature a symmetrical pattern of diamonds or other precious stones. The name dates back to when 70's and 80's professional tennis player Chris Evert lost her designer diamond bracelet during a match at US Open.
Chris had game officials pause the match until her bracelet was found and from that day, this style of bracelet has been called the tennis bracelet. These days, tennis stars such as Serena Williams continue to wear this style, usually in diamond, to accessorize their designer tennis outfits!
