A Life That Matters

History of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is an ancient and mysterious Hindu Vedic festival, which this year is held on Thursday October 26th.  The Sun God, Surya, the god of energy and of the life-force, is worshiped during the Chhath Puja to promote well-being, prosperity and progress.

This festival is observed by many Nepalese and Indian people, and it is said that the rituals of Chhatth Puja may even date back to the ancient era, as it is mentioned in the ancient Vedas and in the Sanskrit Epic poem of Mahabharata.

The yogic or scientific history of Chhath Puja is even more fascinating, with the Rishis of many years ago being said to have remained alive for long periods without any external intake of food by obtaining energy from the sunlight.  It is believed that this feat was made possible through  the rituals of the Chhath Puja.

We're celebrating this years Chhath Puja by bringing you a brand new collection of 'Strange Stones', which exemplify the power and energy of the physical earth as well as the mystical nature of the Chhath Puja.

Ancient gemstones, some only recently discovered by modern humans, such as Gaspeite, Amazonite and Bloodstone, make up this collection of the strange and stunning, and give you the chance to own a piece of our weird and wonderful world forever!
